"SAFE AND SECURE"aaa

Two points stood out for me as I listened to a message a couple of days ago. The title or theme was ‘Challenges: Victory Secured’.

As Christians the very declaration or decision to follow Christ automatically places us in a position for ‘battles’. We are no longer on the devil’s side, we have become his enemy. For that reason every day we will face different challenges and they are manifested in the physical. In other words satan uses any and everything present, tangible, especially people to create problems for us.

Let’s take the first point –“Assess Risks”. Since battles are common for a Child of God we have to also understand that as in any battle we stand to lose something. It could be our health, a job, family member or friend or some material possession. That will seem much if we have our hope and trust in those things. But when we look at the eternal, there is one thing satan cannot touch, one thing we cannot loose in the battle and it is our soul. Once our fight is exclusively for Christ our victory is secured.

Allow me to touch on my own seven almost eight year ‘battle’. I can confidently say that out of this lengthy experience I am emerging a better person. Though the battle continues my perspective and confidence in God to take me through has caused any anxiety or fear to be eroded. Hear what it says in Isaiah 54:17, “But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the LORD; their vindication will come from me. I, the LORD, have spoken!” NLT

This leads us to the second point that at the end of the fight/battle there is a “Guaranteed Rewards”. The rewards so far from my battle have been assertiveness, confidence, a calm spirit, a teachable disposition and a deeper faith in God, just to mention a few.

So when the enemy tries to make you think you have lost, remind him that your reward is secure and there is nothing on earth you can lose that compares to what you will gain in eternity.

PONDER – Are you willing and ready to take the risk in light of the guaranteed rewards? Are you holding on too tightly to the temporary things that you may lose at the expense of not gaining the eternal rewards?

PRACTICE – Focus on what you will gain from a victorious battle and your losses will become insignificant.

PRAYER – Father I am committed to the fight regardless of the risks knowing my victory is secure.

PASSAGE – 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. And now the prize awaits me--the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.” NLT
